Snowflake Table Runner

Snowflake Table Runner Snowflake Table Runner-1

When I received a request for a snowflake table runner crochet pattern, I decided to give it my best shot and design one. I had a bit of trouble trying to decide what to do for the edging, but after a few tries I came up with something that somewhat matches the snowflakes.

You can make the table runner as long and wide as you like. I crocheted three rows until it was long enough for the table. If you want, you could even make a table cloth with this pattern.

Material: Size 10 Crochet Cotton
Metal Hook Size: 8/1.50MM
Finished Measurement: With 3 rows it measures approximately 11 inches after blocking. After blocking, each flake measures approximately 4 inches from point to point and the edging measures between 0.5 to 1.5 inches.

Special Stitch Instructions:

Beg. Cl Shell: Ch 2, *(Yo and insert hook into st indicated, yo and pull through, yo and pull through 2 lps)* 2 times, (3 lps on hook), yo and pull through all 3 lps, (1st half of cl shell made), ch 3, repeat from * to * 3 times in same st, (4 lps on hook), yo and pull through all 4 lps. (2nd half of cl shell made).

Cl Shell: *(Yo and insert hook into st indicated, yo and pull through, yo and pull through 2 lps) 3 times, (4 lps on hook), yo and pull through all 4 lps*, (1st half of cl shell made), ch 3, repeat from * to * once in same st. (2nd half of cl shell made).

Picot Peak: Sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, ch 2, sl st on top of last dc made, hdc in next st, sc in next st.

Note: When joining two snowflakes together with a sl st, insert the hook from the bottom into the completed snowflake. When joining a corner where 2 corner lps have already been joined, join the 3rd corner in the sl st where the 2nd corner was joined.

Ch 6, join with sl st to form circle.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, (sc, ch 3) 6 times into circle, join with sl st. (6 lps)

Rnd 2: Sl st into lp, ch 1, (sc, ch 4) into first lp and into each lp around, join with sl st. (6 lps)

Rnd 3: Sl st into lp, ch 1, (sc, ch 6) in first lp and into each lp around, join with sl st. (6 lps)

Rnd 4: Work Beg. Cl Shell in first st, 4 sc in next lp, *cl shell in next sc st, 4 sc in next lp, repeat from * around, join with sl st.

Rnd 6 (for first snowflake): Ch 1, sk first st, *work picot peak, sk next st, (3 sc, ch 7, 3 sc) in next lp, sk next st, repeat from * around, join with sl st. Fasten off.

To Block:

Dip the table runner in water and gently squeeze out any excess water. Lay the runner flat on a few towels using pins to hold it in place. Allow the table runner to dry completely.
